Jive By The Wye is a dance school specialising in Modern Jive and Lindy Hop
We are passionate about dancing. Dancing is fun, its exciting, it can keep you fit and has a great social scene.
We would love to share our passion with you. Come along with no obligation to one of our weekly classes. Complete beginner or accomplished dancer. We have two classes to suit your dancing skill.
We have two locations. Bishopswood Village Hall on Sunday evening starting @ 6:30.
Llanfoist Village Hall on Tuesday evening starting @ 7:30.
Bishopswood Lindy Hop Lessons Wednesday evening @ 7:30
Tutorials
At Bishopswood weekly classes organised in three terms per year
Each tuition session includes two classes
Divided in to two categories according to Jive Dancing experience.
The First Class is aimed at novice and beginners. The moves are basic and taught at a easy pace.
The Intermediate Class is for Jive Dancers who want to go beyond the basic moves. The lessons are taught at a quicker pace and include more steps
Other Classes
Llanfoist Village Hall Tuesday evening 7:30pm – 9:30pm inc 15min break. Free tea & Coffee etc ….
An Introduction To Lindy Hop
In response to requests from classes, Liz Morgan & Nicky Bale started an Intorduction Lindy Hop class in January 2023.
On a fortnightly basis comencing Wednesday 10th January @ 7:30pm until 9:30pm. Two 45min classes with two 15min pracitice sessions. Tea & Coffee etc… provided. NOTE due to hallavailability some classes are on Thursday. See the date listing on the CLASSES page
Admittance £6 for 1 class £7 for both.

Nicky and Gary both keen Jive dancers for many years started Jive By The Wye dance studio in May 2021
Nicky returned to teach dance in May 2021. Nicky taught Jive, Charleston and Lindy Hop for many years and was a pioneer bringing Modern Jive and Lindy Hop to the Forest of Dean and Wye Valley area
Gary a keen jiver for many years and occasional dance tutor joined Nicky to start Jive By The Wye dance studio In May 2021
Dances DJ Nights and Live Bands
The next DJ night is Friday 19th April at Llanfoist 8:00pm – 11:00pm £6 on the door
The next live band night featuring Whisky Jean and The Chasers is Friday 26th April 7:30pm – 10:30pm @ Bishopswood

There is no licensed bar at this event. It is the policy of Bishopswood Village Hall to prohibit the conasumpion of alcohol on the premiees with out the appropriate licence. Tea, Coffee etc will be available FOC
